A good aproach September 3, 2010 Aaron Leão Even this book is a upgrading pc's book, the writter made a powerfull guide about hardware and technology. It let's the reader understand how the every single part of pc works.
Upgrading and Repairing PCs (19th Edition) August 30, 2010 Roger L. (Phoenix, AZ USA) Well thought out manual that takes the reader from the basics of computers to building a PC. The included DVD really takes the mystery of assembly.
Great book and accompanying videos. August 20, 2010 Rodion (MADRID, MADRID Spain) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great book: it's thorough and what's more, the accompanying CD includes twelve videos in which the author explains different aspects: five of them explain Processors, Motherboard, Chipsets, Memory and Hard Disks and the remaining seven deal with practical installation issues. The videos are relatively short, so they are intended as an overview: 25 minutes for the Processors video (the longest one) and 4,5 minutes for the shortest one.
I really miss more videos explaining large parts of the book or the whole book, just like attending a course.
Incredible. Complete. July 21, 2010 E. Byrd 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is literally the bible of PC enthusiasts. Everything from how a processor cache works to how parity checking works, this is the guide for everything you will need to know about a computer. Scott Mueller knows his stuff, and after you read this, you will too.
Nothing else like it, a must own June 3, 2010 XHandsofBlue (Phoenix, AZ USA) Updated every year. Comprehensive and accurate. There is no other upgrading and repair your PC manual like it, or even close. No one can copy the depth and breadth of this book and they don't even try. This is the ONLY book on PC repair (desktop) you need own! You can learn more about how PC's work and why they work as they do from this single source than spending all of your time in other sources of information.
